Contemporary Abstract Landscape Painting by Carlo Reisch

Painting situated between Impressionism, Informel, and lyrical abstraction — with a focus on the contemporary landscape as a process of perception and painterly condensation.

Painting on cardboards

Contemporary Lyrical Landscapes by Carlo Reisch/German Artist

My painting on cardboard and plywood is a deliberate choice rooted in artistic, practical, and aesthetic considerations. Both materials offer a matte, absorbent surface that is particularly well suited for water-based paints such as acrylic, gouache, and tempera. Due to their specific manufacturing and material properties, however, these supports are somewhat limited in terms of available formats. For this reason, I prefer to work in sizes up to a maximum of 70 × 50 cm (27,6×19,7 inches)

Small works on paper

Contemporary Lyrical Landscapes by Carlo Reisch/German Artist

Small formats intensify the immediacy of the works. Rapid gestures, layered brushstrokes and open structures create compositions that appear both spontaneous and carefully balanced. Horizons dissolve into fields of color, while drawn elements remain visible beneath the painted surface. Drawing and painting enter into a direct dialogue in which line, texture and color interact freely with one another.
